ASOS UK Returns: Guest Fees, Brand Partners and Exchanges

On ASOS, the first thing to check is not just the delivery date. Your checkout type and the 'shipped by' information can change both what you pay to send an order back and where it must go. A guest order is treated differently from an account purchase, while some ASOS Brand Partner parcels have to go back to the partner rather than ASOS's usual warehouse.

The return route and timing

ASOS’s official UK guidance is the source for the following published process. ASOS's current policy gives 28 days from delivery, or from availability at the nominated collection point, to return an eligible unwanted item. It states that guest checkouts incur a £3.95 returns fee. The item should be in its original condition, and specific hygiene-sensitive products require intact seals. Retain proof of posting until the return is resolved; a tracking message alone does not tell you which merchant is processing the refund.

Check the product and the seller

A size exchange may appear within the return flow for certain account orders, but it is not offered for guest checkouts. Check the option shown for your actual garment rather than assuming every colour and size can be swapped. If the order was both sold and dispatched by a Brand Partner, ASOS's guidance says to return it directly to that brand; partner items shipped by ASOS can use the ASOS returns options. The order confirmation helps distinguish those two cases.

Avoid an unnecessary second journey

Before submitting, check the product detail page for restrictions and look at the refund amount shown for the actual checkout method. A paid guest-return fee is different from any fee under the Fair Use rules for an account order. Check that the method selected is a refund rather than an exchange request if you no longer want the product at all. If the parcel was supplied by a partner, the ASOS tracking view may not show the carrier's full journey, making proof of posting particularly useful.

A common purchase scenario

For example, you order trainers with an ASOS dress, then discover the trainers were shipped by a partner. Do not put both in the same ASOS return bag before checking their fulfilment details. Follow the separate label or support route for the partner pair, and use the ASOS flow for the dress if it is eligible.

Where to check your order

Start in My Account or the order's guest-return instructions. Look for the correct parcel reference and keep the drop-off receipt. If the original item arrived faulty or incorrect, contact ASOS about that problem directly instead of assuming the ordinary change-of-mind fee and condition checks resolve it. For the exact channel rules, check the official procedure or policy detail linked by the provider.

What the order email can tell you

Search your confirmation for the seller and the 'Shipped by' field. The warehouse that sent the parcel determines whether the ASOS return options apply or a Brand Partner needs a direct return. Separating that decision from the choice between refund and available exchange prevents a perfectly good item being sent to the wrong address.
