Cancel Spotify Premium UK: Duo, Family and Partner Payments
Not everyone who listens to Spotify Premium controls the plan's billing. A Duo or Family member can leave the group without necessarily cancelling the plan manager's subscription. If the cancel option is missing from your account, check who is paying before assuming Spotify has made cancellation impossible.
What the current policy actually covers
Spotify’s official UK guidance is the source for the following published process. Spotify's help instructions direct the account holder to Manage your plan and Cancel subscription for a directly billed Premium plan. Under its published process, paid benefits normally continue until the next billing date and the account then changes to the free tier. The service keeps playlists and saved music in the account, while free listening has different features. A zero-priced free trial is described separately: ending it may switch the account to Free immediately.
Items and channels that follow different rules
When a mobile or internet partner bills for Premium, Spotify's account page indicates that arrangement under Payment and directs the customer towards the partner. If you are a member rather than manager of a Duo or Family plan, leaving that shared plan does not cancel the manager's bill. Confirm whose credentials were used to pay and whether the plan you see is your own or part of someone else's household arrangement.
Prepare before making a request
When Premium does not show on your usual Spotify account, try the login methods connected to your historic payments before assuming that the service has an unexplained renewal. A plan manager and a household member have different controls, and a charge through a phone contract may not be cancelled from Spotify's own plan screen. After finishing the right cancellation workflow, return to account details to check whether a change to Free is scheduled and save the confirmation shown.
Consider this ordinary situation
Suppose a couple uses one Duo plan and only one person wishes to leave. The departing member can change their membership, but the paying manager needs to inspect the plan itself to stop the charge. Treating those two actions as identical could leave the renewal in place even after one person loses Premium access.
Which official page should you open?
Open the official Spotify cancellation help page while signed in to the account associated with the payment. Save the confirmation or take note of the next billing date shown in the account. For an unexplained charge, check whether you used an alternative Spotify login before opening a billing enquiry.
Whose account is being billed?
Check the address associated with the payment receipt. A household member can enjoy Premium while another person's account manages the fee, and a telecom bundle may send you to a partner's billing page. Before asking for a refund, identify the actual payee and check whether the paid benefit is on an old login rather than your current listening profile.
