YouTube Premium can be managed on YouTube itself or through the app store that sold the subscription. The visible Cancel button depends on the billing method. Before searching the video app for it, look at your paid memberships page and the merchant shown on the most recent payment receipt.

Choose Manage membership, Deactivate and continue through the cancellation prompts until the final confirmation is complete. The official help says paid benefits generally remain until the end of the current billing period after cancellation. Simply signing out or removing the YouTube app from a device is not the membership cancellation procedure.

What changes the ordinary process

If Apple billed the membership, the YouTube help page directs customers to manage the subscription through the Apple account; Google Play billing has its own account route. A family-plan user who is not the payer may need to speak to the person managing that plan rather than trying to cancel it from a member account. The current help also distinguishes cancellation from pausing, which is not available to every billing group.

You pay through Apple on an iPhone but also watch on a laptop. Trying to cancel on the laptop may show different controls from the original Apple subscription.
