Premier Inn Cancellation and Refunds: Flex, Advance and Non-Flex Rates
Quick answer: Premier Inn’s cancellation deadline depends on the room rate in your booking confirmation. A Flex booking may be cancelled for a full refund up to 1pm on arrival day, while Advance and Semi-Flex reservations have earlier deadlines and Standard or Non-Flex rates may be non-refundable. The rate you selected matters more than the fact that you booked directly.
Read the rate description before cancelling
Premier Inn’s room-rate guide lists Flex, Semi-Flex, Advance, Standard and Non-Flex arrangements. Flex ordinarily offers the latest cancellation deadline. Semi-Flex requires cancellation at least three full days before arrival for a refund; Advance requires 28 full days. Standard and Non-Flex bookings have more restrictive terms, although amendments may be available on certain rates. Check any deal-specific conditions shown when you booked.
Look at the arrival date, original booking terms and the rate on the email confirmation. Do not assume a room was booked on Flex just because you paid at booking, or that a room paid for at check-in is automatically refundable after you miss the cancellation deadline.
Cancel a booking using the reference
Premier Inn’s cancellation instructions direct you to Manage Booking. Enter the booking reference, surname and arrival date, choose Cancel if the booking permits it and confirm the action. Retain the resulting cancellation reference and email. If the manage-booking screen does not offer the expected option, use the official contact route rather than assuming the website’s refusal means the room has already been cancelled.
Example: You booked two nights at a Flex rate for a weekend and now need to cancel. Verify that your confirmation says Flex, then check the 1pm UK-time deadline for the actual day of arrival. A different booking at the same hotel on an Advance rate may have passed its refund deadline weeks earlier.
Refund status and changes instead of cancellation
Premier Inn says it endeavours to process eligible refunds within three to five working days after cancellation, while card issuers may take additional time to display the money. Its help page also gives a reservations contact for a refund that has not arrived within the stated timeframe. When enquiring, provide the cancellation reference rather than only the hotel name.
If you would still like to stay but on a different date, check the amendment terms for your original rate. The new room price and any conditions applying to the amended booking may differ. An amendment is not the same as cancelling with a refund and making a new reservation.
If you booked several rooms under one reference, check exactly which rooms the manage-booking screen is about to cancel. Keep the guest names and dates beside the reservation number, and review the confirmation after each change. If the trip includes breakfast or another extra, compare its treatment with the accommodation rate instead of assuming that every component of the reservation has an identical deadline or refund arrangement.
