Habitat UK Returns: Argos Drop-Off and £30 Furniture Collections

Habitat operates alongside Argos, but the return route still depends on the size of the product and whether you collected it or had it delivered. A small lamp can be much easier to take back than a two-person sofa; a collection fee may also change the amount you receive.

Check the 30-day request period before packing

Habitat says most eligible unwanted products can be returned when you request the return within 30 days of collection or delivery. The item should be unused, include its original components and be in its original packaging and resaleable condition, subject to the policy’s legal-rights and inspection provisions. Keep the order confirmation or receipt and include any free gift supplied with the returned product. An item with a genuine fault is dealt with under different rules, so do not select a change-of-mind reason if it arrived damaged.

Where you collected the order determines the counter options

Habitat’s returns guide accepts eligible collected orders at Argos stores and Argos branches inside Sainsbury’s. It lists certain Sainsbury’s collection-point options where the order was collected there. For a home-delivered small item, a store or a suitable postal option may be available; check the paperwork first. Large home-delivered furniture may need a customer-service collection request and cannot simply be carried to the shop counter. A retailer partnership does not make every Sainsbury’s till an official return desk.

Large item collection and the refund

Habitat currently lists a £30 collection charge for qualifying large home-delivered change-of-mind returns from 12 June 2025, with stated exceptions including a faulty product and certain supplier-direct deliveries. Read the actual booking confirmation before agreeing collection. Habitat says refunds follow the original payment method, generally within 14 days after the returned item is received and inspected; your bank may take additional time. Keep delivery and collection records until the returned furniture and any refund adjustment are accounted for.

How this could work

A customer collects a set of mugs at an Argos branch and orders a sofa for home delivery. The mugs may go back to an eligible Argos counter within Habitat’s policy. The sofa will need its own large-item return arrangement and may attract a £30 collection charge if the customer simply changes their mind.

Common question
