Squarespace presents a website subscription, domain registration and optional connected services as distinct products. Cancelling the website plan does not automatically cancel all of those other purchases. It can also change what a visitor sees at your domain, so check the site’s current status before choosing immediate cancellation.
Which rules apply?
According to its official help, the Billing panel lets a site owner cancel the website subscription immediately when an applicable refund option is available or stop service at the end of the current billing period. When the site subscription ends, the public site can display a website-expired message. The company warns that some other subscriptions may pause or remain active, and it directs users to review the separate product entries for their own cancellation and refund conditions. If you are paying for Adobe products rather than Squarespace hosting, use the Adobe account’s cancellation instructions instead.
The practical route
Open Billing from the Squarespace site you intend to change, and locate the website subscription rather than clicking an unrelated domain or email product. Review the presented immediate-versus-end-of-term options, the expiry date and any on-screen refund information before confirming. If the site hosts content you might need later, consider exporting or preserving a copy before removing paid site functionality.
If your order contains more than one item
Imagine a small business moving from Squarespace to another platform while retaining its original domain. Ending the website subscription alone does not establish that the domain has been transferred or that domain renewal is turned off. Keep the original provider’s account active until you have checked the status of each distinct service and its expiry.
Refunds and getting help
If you cancel but still see a charge, check the billing history for the exact invoice and whether it belongs to the site plan, a domain or another subscription. The platform’s support centre is the appropriate place to clarify its account-specific refund process; this guide does not judge eligibility for a particular payment.
Check Squarespace’s original merchant return terms for the latest steps applicable to the original purchase.
