Nintendo Switch Online is not cancelled by deleting a downloaded game or removing a payment card from a shared console. Nintendo says the account holder who bought the membership controls its automatic-renewal setting.
Switch off Nintendo auto-renewal
Nintendo’s UK instructions say to turn off automatic renewal in Nintendo eShop or the Nintendo Account portal. On Switch, select the purchasing account, open Account Information and choose Nintendo Switch Online to terminate automatic renewal. Nintendo advises doing this at least 48 hours before membership expiry.
Membership expiry and paid benefits
The membership normally continues until its listed end date after renewal is switched off. Nintendo notes that cloud-save and online-play benefits can then cease, and its terms do not provide a general credit for unused membership time. Check the separate current information on any cancellation right linked to a recent eShop purchase rather than interpreting auto-renewal controls as a universal refund request.

A family membership paid by someone else
If you are part of a family group but cannot see the renewal setting, ask the person who purchased that membership to check their Nintendo Account. Other family members cannot manage that purchaser’s renewal setting.
Keep the confirmation
Keep the expiration date and any confirmation displayed in the account portal. For service problems, follow Nintendo’s official support route instead of assuming a card removal will block all scheduled transactions.
This gaming membership is separate from any video subscription: our Netflix cancellation guide covers a different billing account if you are auditing household renewals.
