Birkenstock sandals ordered from the brand’s UK website are not returned through whichever local shoe shop happens to stock the same style. The original seller determines which order reference and label you can use.
What the company says
Birkenstock describes a free 30-day return service for qualifying purchases from its own UK online shop. Returned shoes should remain in an acceptable condition under its return instructions. The company does not operate a direct exchange for a different size through the returns parcel: the ordinary route is to return the initial pair and place a new order. Read the official Birkenstock policy or help page for the company’s own wording and any product-specific changes.
Before you send anything
Open the official return information, use the direct order reference to arrange the indicated label and follow the packaging instructions. Keep the original shoebox protected inside an outer parcel, along with the drop-off receipt, so neither the shoes nor the retail box are damaged in transit.
Birkenstock footwear bought from schuh uses schuh’s separate returns process, as described in our guide.
A situation that changes the route
If you tried the sandals on inside and discovered the wrong width, check that they remain in the condition required for an unwanted-item return. A pair worn extensively outdoors should not be represented as an unused trial.
For a pair purchased at another retailer, contact that seller with the receipt. For an apparent defect in a direct purchase, describe the issue to Birkenstock rather than selecting an inaccurate change-of-mind reason.
